For four consecutive weekends, from July 17 to August 9, Gjakova was transformed into a vibrant stage for Albanian culture, art, music, and tradition through the third edition of the “Ditet e Shqiptarit” festival.
Organized by the Gjakova Foundation, the festival featured an extensive cultural program that brought together music, film, visual arts, literature, theatre, sports, nature, and tradition. Activities took place across some of the city’s most distinctive locations, including the Grand Bazaar, the “Ali Podrimja” Cultural Park, the Jupa Bazaar, the Krena River, and other venues throughout Gjakova.
The program of this edition featured 55 activities and 22 concerts, bringing some of the most renowned names in Albanian music to the festival stages, including Alban Skënderaj, Eugent Bushpepa, Rona Nishliu, Elita 5, Minatori, Tri Muskëtierët, Dren Abazi, as well as many other artists and bands.
Beyond the concerts, the “Days of Albanians” festival also featured activities that brought together culture, nature, and tradition. One of the highlights was the traditional diving competition from the Fshajt Bridge, a tradition spanning more than 70 years. The program also included outdoor activities, artists’ painting colonies, open-air cinema, sports activities, and a variety of other cultural experiences.
In this way, the festival transformed the city itself into a stage, bringing residents, visitors, and the diaspora closer to Albanian culture while creating a space where tradition coexisted with art and contemporary forms of cultural expression.
